Spot colour

Task: Take two images, one should show a contrast between an object and its background. The other picture should do the same thing but using photoshop to create the effect.

photoThis is my original image of some gravel in the uni car park. All the stones were a grey and dull colour. The central pebble is a bright orange, creating a contrast between the two.

Metz bounce flash

Task: using a metz bounce flash take a photo of something in your favourite room.

I used the flash to take an image of a macbook and my iphone as these are the items i use the most. I also included my uni work as deadlines are soon, i have been doing last minute work pieces. DSC_0058

To use the metz flash, i had the camera on auto. I put the aperture on 4.8 meaning i had to change the setting on the bounce flash to about 4.8.

These are some of the other images i took while using the metz bounce flash.

The austerity issue

Task: chose one of the 3 main words to research and find a photographer who succeeds in telling a story with the same theme you have chosen.

endiaferon reports for a website called ‘demotix’, which is an online forum for freelance photojournalist’s. He is from Athens and his photography mainly revolves around citizen journalism and human rights photography. The images were taken on the 5th may 2010 in Athens, which there was a mass protest against austerity.

The protest on the 5th may was one of the biggest that has taken place in 15 years, concerning the ‘greek debt crisis’. The amount of people who attended the widespread protest is unknown however it has been estimated that 100,000 to a massive 500,000 citizens turned up to walk calmly and protest in peace through the centre of Athens. However a small percentage decided to attempt to storm parliament and create anrachy in order to get their message across.

Portraits

Task: Take two images, the first being of someone you know, and decide what you want the image to say about the person and include visual clues. The second image should repeat this but with someone you don’t know.

Image one: someone i don’t know. This is an image of a stall on one of the street corners on oxford street. The stall typically attracts the tourists of London, and is well lit and bright in order to attract potential customers.

photo

The man himself seemed very cheery and was quite happy to pose for the photo’s. When taking this image, i made sure the subject was in clear view of the image, as well as including a majority of his bright stall.

Image two: Someone i know –
